Whatever the demands; we provide sustainability.
In many discussions about energy and the construction industry, the word sustainable is mentioned frequently. The word is uttered and followed with discussions about conservation and 'clean fuels', without regard for fundamental principals that provided the genesis of the discussion.
sustainable (adj) 1. Capable of being sustained. 2 a : of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged.
The CUBES' design is ideal for thermal protection. Our sheerwall flanked by opposing staggered structural members create a vapor/air barrier highly resilient to thermal bridging. We pay particular attention to materials used in sealing the air barrier insuring resilience over time and through multiple events such as high winds and earthquakes.
The connection details also truncate thermal bridging where vertical and horizontal structural members meet, traditionally a weak point in building design.
The building envelope ideally suited for seismic resilience is lightweight and flexes while rebounding to its original shape and maintains its integral structural connections.
Dynamic performance encompasses categories such as resilience to wind, blast mitigation and ballistic protection. The highest level of dynamic performance comes when a structure has the ability to transmit the absorbsion of energy over the whole of the structure. Modern aircraft & automobiles utilize the structural skin (unibody) to absorb energy in crashes and the same principal is applied to buildings. InteRgreated structures are designed to perform along the same lines using structure to absorb or deflect energy where appropriate.
Protection from wind not only requires a building envelope that can absorb impacts from projectiles but it demands a flexible air/vapor barrier that remains effective after multiple events.
Blast/Ballistic Resistance demands vary widely. Steel reinforced gypsum, kevlar and carbon nanotubes are just some of the materials that can be incorporated into a structure to ensure the safety of its' occupants.
Particular attention to window and door attachment details is our core focus, as it is the typical weak point in addressing blast protection. Many blast proof windows end up harming building occupants in blast events. While the glass remains intact, the window frame, if not properly anchored to the structure becomes airborne and a potential hazard. With the use of the proper materials, buildings can appear normal in every respect and still keep their occupants safe in dynamic events.
InteRgreat's sheerwall is less than one-half an inch thick and offers a four hour fire resistance.
The material costs as much as fire-rated sheetrock and adds dimensional stability and racking strength. Our mechanical systems keep oxygen from fires and not people.
Our comprehensive material choices are not easily affected by and do not feed fires.
Our fire protection panel choices are chosen with factors such as price, impact resistance, water resistance, thermal protection and of course... fire resistance.
